We have a client company located in SE Portland that is seeking an experienced Machinist.
Setup and perform machining operations on various metals, castings, forgings, and fabrications. Able to operate three or more major machines and four or more minor machines. Sets up all fixturing and cutters to perform machining operations on all kinds of metals, casting, forgings and fabrications by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works from "dispatch list" schedule on computer system or from verbal instructions from production control. Uses computer system to clock daily work.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Make edits to programs and save if applicable.
Uses precision measuring tools to control close tolerance machining operations (+/- .00025) such as dial indicators, ID/OD micrometers, bore gauges, calipers and other precision measuring tools.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Does basic maintenance to machines, including checking and maintaining oils and fluids in machines. Reports problems with machine to supervisor
Grind and sharpen tooling as needed.
Makes setup sheets for new jobs and updates old setup sheets.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems
Keeps machines and work area clean and free of debris. Mops work area at end of shift.
Able to operate forklift and other lifting devices
