Pipe Insulator
Kalama, WA

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is currently seeking an industrial pipe insulator who has a mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities of the Pipe Insulator:
o Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
o Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
o Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use.
o Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
o Apply, remove, and repair insulation, thermal and fire, on industrial and domestic equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, pipe-work and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
o Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
o Working with tools and machinery used in the trade.
o Working within the maintenance crew with the mechanics, and will be expected to assist as needed in the daily activities of the mechanical group as assigned.
o Cross train to learn a variety of other crafts such as basic pipefitting, pump maintenance, crane operation and proper rigging techniques.

Compensation of the Pipe Insulator:
o $26.50/hour

Requirements of the Pipe Insulator:
o Blanket insulating experience
o Thermon and foil experience
o Stick insulating - piping
o Working with and around steam heat trace
o Not afraid of heights
o Working alone and unsupervised/self-motivated
o Willing to work all hours and shifts, take call-ins and work in on the weekly on call rotation.
