Company located in SE Portland is seeking a Building Technician for a Retirement Community. Will be performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance, repair procedures, renovation of resident apartments, and interior areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Performs basic carpentry tasks such as installation of drywall, cabinetry, counters, partitions, pre-fabricated window frames, tubs, bathroom fixtures, hard wired smoke alarms, shelves, floors, doors, framework and trim. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, flooring and provides paint touchups.
" Prepares layout, structures, floor plans and reviews blue prints, may build cabinetry and other items as needed and maintains accurate records of time spent on assigned projects.
" Performs preventative maintenance and repair to building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
" Assists residents with apartment moves which may include cable hook-up, safety equipment hook up, installation of window shades, blinds, curtain rods, wall fans, door locks and other items as specified.
" Reports to work on time and as scheduled, maintaining a professional appearance in compliance with policies. Follows departmental reporting policies for absences. Completes daily duties as scheduled and completes non-scheduled duties as time allows.
" May serve as representative for department on the safety committee or other ad hoc committees.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
" With valid Oregon Drivers License, may run errands to pick up supplies and parts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
" Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent training from 2-year college or technical school; (carpentry, framing, construction finish work, and general mechanical skills.)
" One year experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
" Must be able to read and comprehend operating policies, safety procedures, and maintenance instructions.
" Able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume (Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics).
" Valid Oregon Drivers License
" Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, fire systems, HVAC, carpentry, vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping and telecommunication wiring.
" Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
" Able to integrate non-scheduled work tasks into routine in order to meet schedules.
" Able to meet productivity and quality standards on a consistent and routine basis
