Work Description:
" Layout, thread, cut and assemble pipe for fire protection
" Insulate piping with fiberglass insulation consistently, with quality and efficiency.
" Test all types of plumbing for leaks and quality control checks.
" Work to gain knowledge and new techniques to improve and increase productivity.
" Follow all safety and housekeeping rules.
" Follow company policies.
" Willing to assist in other areas as needed.
Requirements:
Experience:
" Minimum six (6) plus months' relevant assembly experience

Skills / Ability:
" Proficiently read and use a tape measure.
" Read and understand English in order to read/interpret prints, diagrams and drawings.
" Proficient math skills.
" Ability to read piping diagrams.
" Ability to identify various pipes and their schedule size.
" Knowledge of all types of coils.
" Familiar with sealants and their correct application.
" Skills to identify how valves work and their installation methods.
" Must be able to locate materials and set up work in a safe and efficient manner.
" Must be a team player, including good interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
" Ansul Certified
" Experience with designing Fire Protection Systems; for example: determine pipe lengths, number of nozzles and flow points
" Knowledge or ability to assemble and plumb Utility Distribution Systems (UDS) and Fire Protection Units.
" Experience with pipe threading machinery
" Experience with chop saws
" Experience with sheet metal manufacturing
" Experience working in a production environment

Paul Madden has performed in his capacity as Vice President of Finance and Operations for Madden Industrial since its inception in 1988. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of Madden, through his interest and skill with computers and technology he assists Madden with its IT and technology needs. Paul is also involved in the financial operations Madden Fabrication, the steel fabrication shop operated in NW Portland. Paul’s interests are varied and include computers and technology, photography, and playing keyboard.
