Job Description (Multiple Departments are needing helpers):
Sort metal clamps, wedges, and rebar.
Swing sledge hammers (4 to 8 Ibs) to clamp molds, size determined by the job.
Chase crane (rigging for crane operators), hooking up rigging chain to crane hook (approx. 35 lbs. From floor to chest height, moving large castings, molds and molding equipment through the foundry.
Pour metal up to 2970 degrees, shaking out molds.
Shop clean up, sweeping, shoveling sand, shoveling alloy (up to 50 lbs. On end of the shovel), and miscellaneous other tasks as assigned.

Core room:
Move cores within the shop and into the main foundry.
Sweep, shovel sand, mix sand, cut rebar and other tasks as assigned.

Furnace:
Chase crane (rigging for crane operators), hooking up rigging chain to crane hook (approx. 35 lbs.) from floor to chest height, moving large ladles, skiffs of scrap metal and alloy, and ladles of molten metal through the foundry.
Pour metal up to 2970 degrees from the furnace to the transfer ladle.
Shop clean up, sweeping shoveling sand, and shoveling alloy (up to 50 lbs. On the end of a shovel).
Operate forklift to move large items over 50 lbs.
Work with sand and sand additives to patch ladle lip as needed.
Also performs other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the melters.

***Foundry environment*** Very physical work in a dirty, dusty and somewhat smoky environment. Noise in excess of 85 db (during an 8 hour time weighted average) mandates a hearing conservation program which requires ear protection. The temperature indoors is typically 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the outdoors. Standing or walking 6 to 8 hours per day. Sitting during breaks and lunch only. Fast paced environment, but work at own pace.

Compensation & Benefits of the Foundry Worker:
$17.00/hour!
This is a Union position and comes with great union benefits!
