General Summary:
Supervises maintenance personnel and programs for all plant equipment and facilities. Plant equipment includes conveyors, augers, shredders, grinders, mills, baghouses, rolling stock, electrical systems, and other support equipment. Position requires hands-on maintenance as well as over-seeing other maintenance staff. Will be responsible for planning preventative maintenance, project work, and reactive maintenance. Will plan, assign, and review work for all maintenance staff to ensure conformance with established methods, policies, and procedures. Assists plant manager in hiring of maintenance staff.
Essential Functions:
" Plans and schedules preventative maintenance for all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric equipment.
" Troubleshoot electrical problems using a digital multi-meter and schematics. Systems include basic industrial controls as well as automated PLC driven equipment.
" Troubleshoots equipment by using experience, manuals, drawings, schematics, operating procedures, and common sense.
" Uses hand tools, power tools, cranes, and hoists to dismantle, repair, and re-assemble machines.
" Use welding equipment to repair equipment and fabricate new items.
" Use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measuring equipment to determine condition of parts.
" Install and align new and existing machinery using levels, squares, plumb bobs, straightedges, feeler gauges, and other hand tools.
" Collect and analyze maintenance and machine performance data to improve the maintenance program.
" Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating plans, actions, irregularities, and open items.
" Train staff and create written maintenance procedures to ensure work is done properly.

Job Specifications:
" Has, or can obtain Forklift certification.
" Limited Maintenance Electrical License (LME) desired.
" 8 years maintenance industrial experience.
" Strong math skills.
" Computer proficiency including e-mail, Word, Excel, and a CMMS system
" Supervisory or lead experience.
" High School Diploma a must. Some college is a plus.
" Ability to make quick accurate decisions.
" Must have own hand tools.

Physical Requirements:
Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment. The working environment can be unpleasant, with conditions caused by noise, heat, cold, vibration, etc. Continual standing/walking on various surfaces .Frequent twisting, turning, crouching, climbing, reaching. Must have sensation in fingers for fine motor activity and, sensitivity to heat. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Repetitively.
