Bus mechanic 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on YOUR needs. An established local and family-owned bus company is seeking a talented, experienced, and cooperative professional mechanic to join their team in keeping their fleet safe and on the road. Must be a team player with integrity. Must be punctual, honest, communicative, and dependable. We are looking for someone who is motivated and can work well with others (mechanics, management, suppliers). Must work under pressure with tight deadlines but without shortcuts. Our fleet consists of transits, motorcoaches, mini-buses, and vans, so you must be comfortable with variety of makes, models, and ages.

The ideal candidate will have 2 plus years of experience working on diesel powered vehicles and buses. A strong background working on Cummins, Detroit, Powerstroke, and International Engines will be considered an asset. Duties will be, but not limited to, diagnose and repair diesel engines and mechanical components, diagnose from DVIR reports, complete state DOT inspections to ensure the safe operation of equipment, advise on additional repairs required, and making sure a clean and safe workplace is present at all times. A valid CDL (neg) will be required for this position with a clean driving record. We provide a phone, shop truck, and call-out bonuses for all on-call work. Must be willing to communicate with our contractor repair partners.
*At least 2 years of experience with diesel bus repair, heavy truck, or commercial fleet operations. References will be checked.
*Pre-employment drug test after offer of employment, and random, reasonable suspicion, and post accident drug and alcohol tests.
*Available to work a consistent schedule but with the flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends, if needed.
*Available for service calls as needed on a rotating schedule.
*Good communication, especially written for work orders.

Job Details:
*Must be comfortable with a variety of buses, old and new.
*Follow preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to the specs of manufacturer or company.
*Preventatively maintain and repair diesel engines, transmissions and differentials, turbos, fuel system components, drive trains and components, electrical systems, air brakes and air systems, disc and drum brakes, suspensions, steering, wheels and tires, air-conditioning systems, audio systems, and passenger interiors.
*Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation in accordance to DOT.
*Follow company policy and procedures in making all repairs.
*Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs. Frequently and greater than 75 lbs. Occasionally).
*Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
*Responsible for shop cleanliness, safety and OSHA and EPA compliance.
*Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT and other rules and regulations as required.
*Participate in company training programs.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
*Employ sustainable practices to save money and the environment.
*Prompt daily attendance at assigned work location.
*Must supply own diesel mechanic hand tools.
*Basic computer skills.
*Basic welding skills.
*Brake inspection certification-Company will assist.
*Air-conditioning will assist.

*Current ASE certifications
*Road test company vehicles.
*Current CDL class B with P endorsement and Airbrake Restriction removed, acceptable driver MVR, current medical certificate.
*Tune-up/rebuild experience
*Body work including fiberglass
*Mechanic schooling or apprenticeship
*Like or similar experience of at least 1 year
