Steel Welder: Dual Shield - 1/16th Wire - Hard Face Welder - Sub Arc Process

Job Description:
o Welds defects, voids and cracks on metal castings.
o This is a production welding position in a foundry.
o Uses a variety of arc and welding equipment to repair cracked parts, fill holes and voids on metal parts of various sizes and alloys.
o May perform assigned welding tasks sitting or standing depending upon the part.
o Set an example of excellent performance while keeping safety in mind, and performing your assigned tasks in the safest manner as possible, and to encourage co-workers to strive for excellence while maintaining a safe working environment.
o Lift, carry, and hold welding gun or torch weighing five pounds.
o Lift, carry, and hold welding lead varying in weight depending on length, up to 25 pounds.

Hours Worked: 8 Per Day, 40 Per Week

Shifts: Days, Swing, or Graveyard. Must be open to all shifts.

This position is union after 90 days.

Equipment/ Tools Used:
o Airgun, stinger, torch, and automatic weld gun with wire.
o Overhead and jib crane to move parts.

Personal Protective Equipment Used:
o Safety glasses, welding hood, hearing protection, leathers, ANSI approved steel toe boots, Positive Air Pressure Respirator (PAPR).

Typical Work Conditions: Work is indoors in a foundry. Temperatures are typically 10 to 15 degrees warmer than outdoor temperatures. Environment is dusty and smoky.

Work is generally performed while standing. Noise levels exceed 85 db.
O Must be able to pass a "VERTICAL UP + X-RAY" weld test
o Pass a drug screen
o Reliable transportation
